Mc-Kill-Em’s stroke gave IPL a superb start

Just how quickly cricket theory can be ground into dust was demonstrated by New Zealand wicketkeeper and Knight Riders opener Brendon McCullum at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium here on Friday night.

Science and art came together in a cascade of creativity as the 2008 Indian Premier League was given a start to remember.

McCullum’s bravura 158 not out to a massive 222/3 and, in turn, a thumping 140-run win. The home side succumbed for 82 in 15.1 overs.

Brendon McCullum of the Knight Riders however, quickly put the patakas in the shade with his trademark thunderous batting, getting the Kolkata side off to a flyer with team owner Shah Rukh Khan jumping for joy on the sidelines.
