Tendulkar, Dravid star in 2nd test

Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid scored centuries to put India in command and take a 226-run first innings lead Monday on the second day of the second and final test against Bangladesh.

At stumps India reached 459-5 in reply to the Bangladesh first-innings total of 233 with three days of play remaining.

Tendulkar's 143 _ his 45th test century _ came from 182 balls and included 13 boundaries and one six. Dravid (111) smashed his 29th test century before retiring hurt after he was hit in the face by a short pitch delivery from Shahadat Hossain. He hit 12 boundaries from 188 balls.

Tendulkar, who looked set for a bigger score, lofted a catch to Imrul Kayes off Shakib Al Hasan.

It was Tendulkar's second test hundred in the current series. His 105 not out in the first innings of the first test in Chittagong helped India to a thumping victory and a 1-0 series lead.

Murali Vijay added 30 runs before being caught by Mohammad Mahmudullah off Shakib. Night watchman Harbhajan Singh (13), the last wicket of the day, was dismissed by Shafiul Islam.

Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was unbeaten on 22.

Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag each notched half centuries before being dismissed in the first session after India resumed on the overnight score of 69-0.

Gambhir reached 68 off 83 balls with nine boundaries before being caught behind by wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim off an Islam delivery.

Sehwag added only 15 runs to his overnight score before his aggressive knock of 56 from 63 balls with eight fours ended when he edged a Shahadat Hossain ball to Rahim.

Islam had the best of the Bangladesh bowling figures with 2-70, while Shakib had 2-108.
